Book Marks - January 2006

As many of you know, our church library is in serious need of new blood---or new volumes, rather. This column marks the beginning of a campaign to revive our church library and turn it into a valuable resource. There are three ways in which you can help with this campaign:

1) Every month look for a review of a new book recommended for our library. If you agree that this book would be a valuable addition, please consider making a donation toward the purchase price.

2) We will also gladly accept gifts in honor or remembrance of someone special. This can be in the form of a particular book or a monetary gift toward the purchase of new books.

3) Consider donating volumes to the library. Teaching a series on a particular book? Purchase and donate a copy to the library when you are purchasing copies for your class! Are you an author? Please consider donating a copy of your most recent publication! Culling your home library? Bring your unwanted volumes to church!

Any and all questions regarding this campaign can be sent to the church historian and librarian, Myka Kennedy Stephens: mykaks@gmail.com. Together we can build a new library that will serve our growing needs.

Commissioned by the United Methodist Publishing House as part of its denominational resources, This Day is a prayer book rooted in our Wesleyan tradition. Written in light of our post-9/11 world, it is designed to be used for personal and group reflection. The format is based on a monthly cycle with variations for special times of day, year, and other occasions.
